World Rankings

The 2014/15 snooker season has seen a huge change in how the ranking system works. Instead of the traditional system where points would be accrued for performance in events, it is now a list structured by money. It is designed to reward players who perform well in the larger events. The impact is clear for all to see, perhaps most notably in the case of Ronnie O'Sullivan, who was ranked outside of the top thirty-two until this system came in. His victories in the 2013 World Championship and 2014 Welsh Open have now been rewarded as he is fourth. Mark Selby went into the season as not only World Champion but World number one, however he has already been usurped by Australian Neil Robertson, whose victory in the Wuxi Classic and appearance in the final of the Australian Open has earned him top spot - for now. Ali Carter's ranking has been frozen  whilst he continues to recover from illness.
